Sacred Mountains is an environmental landscape sculpture influenced by my study of Japanese art and aesthetics. The micaceous quartz boulders symbolize steep, rugged mountains. Below the mountains, a round, flat stone embedded with chert symbolizes a lake with wind passing across it. You can see a small cave in the pointed mountain on the left. All the stones have lovely patterns, variations of color, and small flecks of mica that glitter in sunlight. While it looks simple, it was a very complex and difficult puzzle to assemble.Â
