Earth is complex and vast in its beauty. It should not be simply glanced at or brushed over with our eyes and senses. To be fully present in this life, we must observe the world around us with acute sensory awareness. Because Earth is our home, it is a place worthy of study and to know intimately. With its intricate web of life, nature provides us with the essentials for our physical existence and survival while an abundance of natural beauty nurtures the human spirit and uplifts the soul. To consciously preserve life and life-giving environments on our planet, I believe it is important to establish meaningful connections to the natural world and the web of life that surrounds us. Maintaining a keen awareness of beauty in the natural world often fosters a desire to gain greater knowledge and understanding of the Earth, and to care for, protect, and preserve its ecosystyems.
The following photographs are images of patterned arrangements and details of stones in settings at Riverbend Sculpture Gardens. The intricate beauty in the natural world is easily missed if one simply glances over it.
